Vera Karlsson was born in Croatia but trained to be an opera singer at the Conservatory of Vienna. Over the past decade she has concentrated her vocal talents to singing as a 'lyric coloratura' in evangelistic events around the world. On this collection the soprano divides her efforts between a heady mixture of classical arias and operatic hymns. The former consists of works by Handel, Weber and Mozart, whilst the latter is largely devoted to songs that were written in America during the 19th century and include "The Holy City", "It Is Well With My Soul" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Aided and abetted intriguingly by the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Vera proves that the ablity to belt out a powerful song to the Lord is by no means the sole perogative of the heavier shade of CCM.
