This really is at the top of the tree. What a history and pedigree this lady has. Yet she has really suffered some tough times, including the recent death of her mother, to whom this album is dedicated. Throughout all of this her faith stands firm, as is clear from the theme that runs through this collection - that of trusting in God in the darkest hour. The two CDs show the dual aspect of her gospel foundation. The studio album hits you with an urban feel which the likes of Beyonce would be proud of, particularly on tracks like "Go Go Praise". Then the live CD recorded at the House Of Hope in May 2006 has a more trad gospel feel as she whoops it up to the delight of the enthusiastic audience. Both CDs have guest artists splashed all over them, from R&B star son Mario on "Thirty Reasons Why I Love You Mommie" to the live "A Thousand Pains" which features rapper PreZence. Introducing the live concert is one of Vickie's spiritual fathers, Bishop T D Jakes, who gives her quite a glowing endorsement - and why not. This sister is pure gospel class.
