The songs you already know, the concept's one of setting them to classical stylings, the end result a refreshing approach to the highly melodic material. The ensemble's guitar-led, courtesy of maestro Shawn Tubbs, who coaxes some silky-smooth splendour from the strings. The string quartet embellishes the music in fine fettle, and as I've always loved the cello, John Friesin's solos on two tracks and Bongshin Ko's on two others are a delight to hear. A touch of woodwind and percussion completes a full, satisfying sound. Classical finesse of high quality.
