Vineyard has always been adept at ensuring the release of every possible combination of compilation albums. With the 'Select Vineyard' series, they simply draw the best songs from their "most recent critically acclaimed American projects", which have brought to light a host of lesser known worship leaders including (executive producer) Casey Corum, Greg Hjelle and Jeremy Riddle. These dozen songs are picked from half as many recordings made over the past five years, such as 'Prayer' and 'Just Like Heaven', and no fewer than four from '1000 Generations'. From the latter disc we get a couple of upbeat rousers from Billy Somerville and Martin Reardon (both from Atlanta Vineyard; Reardon's debut under logo Pageant being a wee classic). Throughout, there's a focus on spiritual intensity (the brooding "Dwell", "If You Say Go") and on intimacy ("More Than A Friend", "I Love Your Presence", etc), while Sheri Keller's recent "Sufficient For Me" is one of numerous moving, standout tracks. A necessary output? I dunno, but there's some first class worship on offer here and for those who missed most of the original releases, this has got to be worthy of note.
