This is Wendy Jepsen's second album (her first, released in 2004, was 'Sanctuary') and is a gentle set of 12 songs which seek to express the reality of God's healing and love. The songs are inspired by the biblical image of Christ as the Bridegroom reaching out to believers with a deep and passionate love. The opener "Immanuel" sets the scene, in terms both of the music and of the subject matter and the 11 other songs follow a similar pattern with Wendy's voice standing out above a well arranged and well performed instrumental backing. There's a Celtic tinge to it all, with "Be Thou My Vision" making an appearance and some pleasant penny-whistle and violin filling in behind the other songs. The final track, "Song Of The Bride" is a good conclusion to the set. A good album of well crafted, original songs.
