I don’t know why, but listening to this CD makes me think of summer! One of a series of “Signature Songs” albums showcasing a variety of artists, this album is a good introduction to the work of Wes King, a talented American singer/songwriter who is probably not as well-known in the UK as his ability deserves. The sleevenotes, contributed by Wes himself, adds some background to the songs, and the music itself is definitely worth the price of the CD. If I have a minor moan, it’s the absence of lyrics from the sleeve. As a compilation is often a first purchase of an artist’s work, it’s irritating not to have them.
