If, like me, those live worship albums recordedin American crystal cathedrals or South African airport lounges, with MCs that sound like they moonlight on cable TV doing double-glazing telethons set your teeth on edge, you'll be surprised by this. Check the track listing - there's some real old chestnuts guaranteed to set you snoozing: "We Bring The Sacrifice Of Praise", "I Will Bless Thee Oh Lord"... The difference is this is where top gospel producer Patrick Henderson goes to church - he is also Minister Of Music. They've got an excellent Mass Choir and the congregation sound like they're having a ball too. The praise numbers rock along at breakneck speed - if you're one of those who plays worship music in your car, watch the speedo during side one. Traditional black gospel standards like "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus" and "God's Not Dead" are mixed with charismatic foot-stompers like "He Has Made Me Glad", and the latter have never sounded better. One or two of the slower songs wander a little too near crystal muzak territory for me, but overall, play loud and sing along!
