This Australian band have been together for three years, starting off as a local outfit in Tasmania before re-locating to their current home in Melbourne. Singer guitarist Carl Jackson, bassist Lachie and drummer Leigh Thompson are the current lineup. This CD is the band's second release. Playing locally the band have built up a bit of a following with some festival appearances and support slots. Concocting a mix of punk, new wave and a bit of ska, Wishful Thinking are a high energy band blistering their way through six songs in 12 minutes. At this rate they'd be able to perform their entire recorded repertoire in a 25 minute festival set with a few pauses for breath and a "1,2,3,4" Ramones-style introduction to their next song. Highlights for me are the frantic "Feels Alright" and the ska-influenced groove of "Goodbye" but really this is all fabulous stuff.
