I've heard quite a few kids' worship albums, but this one kinda surprised me. For although it's sung by kids for kids, you'd never assume from the track-listing that this is a kids' album. Included are modern worship favourites composed by folk like Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Vicky Beeching and Bart Millard. Overlaying rock guitars and driving percussion (on the upbeat tracks), the singing is exemplary and even includes backing/harmony vocals. So we get Crowder's "O Praise Him", Hughes' "Beautiful One" (needs to be sped up a bit?), and Delirious?' "The Happy Song", as well as a couple of gentler songs like "I Can Only Imagine" and "Indescribable". Presumably this is sung by older kids, for older kids. For, how many seven-year-olds know what "Undignified" or "Indescribable" means? If young ones genuinely enjoy worshipping to "adult" songs, then that's great - go for it. But in that case, why hasn't this simple concept been popularised before now? Certainly it means that both kids and their parents can worship together to the same disc, like this one.
