Cross Rhythms readers will be familiar with the Australian rock 'n' worship pioneered by the likes of David Evans and 'Chosen One' captures The Totally Rad Band as they take a crowd of kids through the unique Australian experience of power praise with emphasis on on rock power! So what you get is explosive rockers like 'Let The Fire' and the slightly grungy 'Chosen One' balanced out by the sweeter tasting worship in 'You Are My Lord' and 'Fire.' All well and good and there is no doubt that this is intense praise and worship but to British ears it sounds a little dated. Although the album cover bears the legend 'to the freaks, for the freaks, by the freaks,' culturally Oz rock seems as far away from the sound of British music as the clean cut Nashville pop of Avalon of Point Of Grace. Having said that, this is a million miles better than 90% ofd the bland pap churned out in the name of worship music by some of the big companies. Conclusion? A definite step in the right direction but instead of flooding the market with 'foreign' worship albums, the UK companies need to start supporting those edgy UK worship bands.
