Yvonne Lewis's debut has a little help from impressive friends. Both Cissy Houston (Whitney's mum) and Luther Vandross wander in to do a bit of bvs for a song apiece. This is glossy and well produced and shows off Yvonne's Anita Baker-style voice. There are some meaty dollops of cool sax throughout which add to the flavour of the legendary Dana Reed's lush production work. It's on the ballads like "It's Gonna Be All Right" and "Just One More" that you really get the opportunity to check out the chops of this new singer. "I'm Amazed" has a beautiful orchestral arrangement which underpins this gospel ballad to fine effect, overall it feels as though Yvonne is happier when she's crooning the ballads than when she's gently funking out. Great voice, worthy of investigation!
