Famed musicianary Tony Loeffler drew Zack Reynolds to our attention, which is appropriate really as he and Zack are in the same line of business, ie, prison ministry. Zack is a native Californian who relocated to Nashville to try his hand at making a living playing the blues, but just as he was on the verge of making a breakthrough, he sought God's will for his music and his life changed forever. But whereas Tony & The Blue Angels have fused world music, Latino and rock into a very eclectic mix, Zack plays mean and dirty blues harmonica while nearly all the music on these two albums is Zack's own work, apart from some radical reworkings of hymns ("Amazing Grace" slow 12-bar style!). A particular standout is "Mighty Tree", a down-in-the-alley visit to blues heaven. Well worth investigating.
