What Do You Have In The House? Part 2

A Word of Exhortation
(2 Kings 4:2)

Shutting Doors To Distraction

The widow had some oil but she had nothing else in her home to suggest she was expecting a miracle. She was not expecting the oil she had to be multiplied. She had no storage place because she had disqualified the oil as “but a jar of oil”. It was time for ‘community engagement’ so Elisha commanded her to go and borrow vessels from her neighbours. The time has come to pray in strategic divine partnerships; for those who would have what you need to contain the blessings of God coming your way from September 2007.

When the widow brought home the barrels, the next step would require that she “shut the door behind you and your sons then pour it...” (2 Kings 4:4). Many Christians lost divine strategies by sharing transparently with envious neighbours (in church even) in past seasons. Revelation was shared innocently, openly and widely. The enemy like Nebuchadnezzar attacked exactly the same treasures he was shown.

The Lord is calling on you today to shut some old doors in your past through which the enemy is contending for the future. When you shut those doors to the past, you will find courage and inner strength to utilise the ‘least thing’ you have in your house (your spiritual gifts). The widow had to shut the door in the face of ‘fear’ of her creditors. In a year of the Lord’s release such as 2007, the Bible helps us understand certain dynamics that need to unfold to help us receive and maintain breakthrough:

  • Creditors back off
  • Debt forgiveness
  • Generosity of spirit and in deed
  • Sudden release of cash flow
  • Role reversal from ‘borrower’ to ‘lender’
  • Boldness and authority

The Bible says; “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debt...because it is called, ”the Lord’s release” (see Deut 15:1-2).

Forget Those Things That Are Behind (Phil 3:13)

It is so easy to focus on negativity and past defeats which I personally think to be quite draining. It is also tempting to blame everyone but ourselves for things that have gone wrong in the past. Many credible prophetic voices have prophesied 2007 to be a year of completion and perfection.

Generation bondages have been judged so that you are now able to function free of old cycles of defeat that hindered believers in Christ Jesus in the past seasons. Hence the apostles and prophets are prophesying “completion and perfection”. God’s heart is for a future generation to emerge and serve freely, in demonstration of power and the Spirit (1 Cor 2:4). God is opening new routes of blessings to saints of the Lord so that we can journey into the future, free of ‘tracking’ demonic spirits and baggage from the past or from our past backgrounds.

Bridges that connect the past to our present circumstances are familiar access. Many such bridges will collapse in the spiritual realm and natural also with minimum casualties. This to me reads as a natural sign of a spiritual seismic shift to enable new ways or access; new bridges that will lead to the new place in Christ.

We must pray for America at this time that the burden of the Lord may stay ‘light’ with them. America is crossing over into a time of ‘reaping’. We are to pray that the saints in America set their faces to God as flint. If there was never going to be hope of breakthrough then the blood of Jesus has been shed in vain.
