Comment: I sang lead with the All American Quartet in 1950. James Blackwood recommended me to C.R. Melton. While there we recorded four 78 RPM records in St. Louis, MO. The songs were: "Land Where Living Waters Flow, You Sho' Do Need Him Now, Wait 'Til You See Me in My New Home and Swing Down Chariot, featuring me. Members with the AAQ when I joined them were: C.R. Melton, baritone, Norman Wood, tenor, Hershel Wooten, bass and the pianist was Wayne Griffin. I took the place of Melvin Redd. While there, Vernon Bright and Alvin Moore returned to the group. We sang twice daily on WMIX radio in Mount Vernon and traveled the concert circuit, singing in churches and all night singing across the land. We motored in Melton's 1950 Fraser auto, carrying five men with loaded suitcases, 78 RPM records and the sound equipment. When we left town or was out for a few days we recorded our radio programs on a "wire recorder," something way before tape. George (G.C.) Lee, Goldsboro, NC.
