It was great to read Bob's humorous account of the early years of Canaan. I am one of those scruffy teenagers who became a Chistian directly through the witness of the band at the St Annes prom 'open airs' and Gus's home Bible study group, as mentioned in Bob's story. Gus kindly gave me some lessons on the guitar, including some very useful tips, when I started playing at the end of 1973. Here I am still playing (and some might say Gus has a lot to answer for!), and still a believer after all these years, and I can say that Canaan were certainly being used by God in evangelism at that time. Post-Canaan I played guitar and piano with Bob in another band, then went on to replace Dave Lloyd on bass in another band led by Gus Eyre. By the early 80s there were lots more gospel bands around but I have always felt that in the early 70s Canaan was definitely the best of the Christian groups in England.

My son Andrew, together with his wife Margaret (who are Christians), are presently Directors of Missionary Ventures New Zealand, Andrew assisted Caanan in the 1970's with sound recording and mixing skills.

I bought your vinyl LP in Germany 1973 or 74. I still play it. Good pressing as it sounds live and clear, really out there in front of me in my house. I wear jeans and a buckskin jacket. Still following the Shepherd after all the wear of all these years. Thank you for sharing your faith.
