Michael W Smith's Second Chance opens in the US on 17th February.

CCM STAR Michael W Smith makes his feature film debut when the movie Second Chance opens in the US on 17th February. The project was directed and co-scripted by another major figure in Christian music, Steve Taylor. The film tells the story of a youth pastor assigned to an inner city church and doesn't shy away from such edgy elements as drug and alcohol abuse, gang violence and prostitution. Taylor took the controversial step of peppering the script with occasional profanity. Taylor told Charisma magazine, "Above all I wanted it to be authentic. Christians can come across as cartoon-like in most media portrayals." Smith said, "The thing I'm most proud of is that this new movie is really believable. Most movies that are done for the Christian marketplace are not believable."
