A delight and a surprise. The previous album Canadian singer/songwriter Andrew was the worship project 'Salvation And Glory' which occasionally seemed a tad formulaic. But this new set sees the songsmith taking in influences such as the Killers and, particularly, Ben Johnson to create a vibey, acoustic rock delight. The opener, "Darkness Into Skies", is about how temptation sometimes comes disguised as something beautiful, like romance. With its haunting mid tempo shuffle and Andrew's husky yet tremulous voice, the hook "Where will we be on Judgment Day" bites home while the song ends in a glorious falsetto note. Not every subsequent track can meet the standards of this gem though "Living Letters" comes close with its telling lines "We are living letters that the world is reading/Painted pictures that the world is seeing." The production throughout is faultless save for the unnecessary effect on Andrew's voice on "Yet I Wait". To sum up, a fine album by a musician who has found creative ways of expressing faith in the modern world.
