This is the second full length album from the British electro pop band. Their sound is quite diverse and eschews traditional pop sensibilities by combining Eastern and Western influences which results in a very diverse album. The club mix of the title track is a standout and for me is better than the pop rock of the original. The only other dance/pop track is the excellent "Call My Name" which also has an acoustic version at the close of the album. Throughout, lead singer Cherrie Anderson's vocals are top rate. The group offer some bangra rhythms on "Free Asia Bibi" which points to the plight of a Pakistani mother who proclaimed her faith and earned the death penalty and the pointed socio/political comment continues on tracks like "Blood Cries Out", a song paying tribute to Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Minorities, who was gunned down after speaking out against Pakistan's controversial blasphemy laws. Ooberfuse are clearly one of the most underrated acts in the UK. Here's hoping they're on Mainstage, Greenbelt, next year.
