Rule number one for making a demo - put your best song right at the start. Opener "Breath Of Life" is a bad song. It's a bag of mixed metaphors, ripping off every overused worship cliché in the book and then throwing them in at random - it lacks a coherent theme and this London-based singer/songwriter doesn't hit his notes. Second track "Father" is more like a step in the right direction - the melody is strong and the song is actually about something - the chorus lyrics are twee but genuine - "I'll call you daddy 'cause you are the Father/And you lavish your love on me." "Blood" has some nice musical touches and is well written, sung from the perspective of the Father and telling of the saving work of Jesus' blood. The title track closes the EP and is a little more upbeat but is not a great song. The production values on this 2006 release are reasonable but that doesn't mean much if the songs aren't great. The potential is there, but sadly, these need work.
