The Christian ska movement of recent years has been paradoxically both refreshingly original and teeth-grindingly derivative at the same time. One of the leading bands of the genre has been the 0 C Supertones whose sound has never been matched (unless of course you've heard the Mighty Mighty Bosstones!). Anyway, derivation dilemmas aside, they have built up a strong following Stateside and have a habit of finishing concerts with a time of worship, which brings us to this album. Drummer Jason Carson and bassist Tony Terusa from the band team up with worship leader Andy Bray and a few other friends to lay down an album of worship classics which is actually quite appealing in its simplicity and familiarity. Some of the most well-known songs include "Light The Fire Again", "Spirit Of The Living God" and "Holy And Anointed One". The only nod of the head I could find in the Supertones direction is a mild reggae flavour to "Lord I Lift Your Name On High". This is not a "ska-worship" album in the style of the Insyderz, it's just a straightforward collection of songs for church with simple, unembellished arrangements.
