After the demise of Seventh Angel, frontman Ian Arkley was going to call his new band Memories Garden but finally settled on Ashen Mortality. Anyone who caught their set at the Rez concert at Salford University in October will know what to expect, a thrashy, doomy explosion of deftly controlled noise with lan's famed guttural growl piercing the walls of guitar which on occasions fall away to eery and at times beautiful passages on acoustic and keyboards. As thrash expands its musical language into a dozen new metal variants, Ian will be in the thick of it as this three song tape clearly demonstrates.
