Arhoolie Records have this habit of releasing a pile of left-field grassroots gospel from the USA. The Sacred Steel series of releases is highlighting the amazing music being produced by a specific strand of Holiness Churches in the United States. There really is nothing like this. Ghent plays some incredible steel guitar and you may be used to this in country music but trust me when it's unleashed in a gospel format by a maestro like Ghent, it sends shivers down the spine. This is the music of general church worship of this particular stream and it's packed with soul! Singers Lori Ghent and Tarlisha Barr offer vocal accompaniment but even without it, Aubrey Ghent makes that steel guitar sing! These are all traditional songs like "Amazing Grace", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "When The Saints Go Marching In" but they are brought to life in this fresh context. You even get the chance to experience Ghent's passionate preaching! If you're a gospel fan, you have to check this series out!

i grew up listening to Ghents music in church i he played with so much soul and anyone he has heard him play is touch because he actually makes the steel talk. i can remember sitting in church and pretending i was playing the steel on the bench also i can remember many days at home using my mouth to make sounds like the steel. Ghent has inspired many young boys to ask mom to buy them a steel so the could make people shout for joy like Ghent did on 16th and ave. D in Ft. Pierce Fl.

I have never heard Mr. Ghents music, but I have heard his sons. Aubrey Ghent Jr is the best steel guitarist I have ever heard. He is Awesome!!!
