Better known as a worship leader in his own right, Australia's Greg Attwells has joined up with friends to produce this indie sounding EP released in 2010. Difficult to pigeon hole, Autumn For Kings produce a rootsy rock offering that showcases some talented songwriting skills. Opening with a bass riff that reminds me of the Kings Of Leon, "Consequence" pulses in a laid back, folk-influenced fashion. This is followed by the upbeat and most commercial track "If I Was Samson". Here Greg leads with a distinctive gravelly vocal which moves from haunting poignancy to soaring power. There is energy in abundance as the harmonies of "Superman" entice the listener to join in and quality tracks continue through to "Satellites". Production is crystal clear and full of warm tones whilst maintaining an earthy rock feel. Added to this, the poetic nature of the lyrics means this recording will appeal to fans of Mumford And Sons and also anyone who enjoys an upbeat folk rock output.
