As a representative of MOR black gospel music, this CD isn't bad. Dr Porter delivers no rude surprises in musical style or content. There is much enthusiasm, from Dr Porter himself and from his backing choir. Unfortunately, this is the entire stock of good news. The bad news is that the songs on offer here are lacking a certain pzazz that is essential to really good gospel music. They tend to be repetitive, mostly unimaginative in lyrics and arrangement. The overall style is black-gospel-meets-the Jacksons, circa 1975. Dr Porter's vocals only aggravate the problem - he comes across like Jermaine Jackson with a sore throat, and has Michael's annoying habit of uttering unnerving little squeaks and squeals of excitement during a song. To put the top hat on it, the mixing is dull and sometimes muffled. A puzzling-ly shoddy job from someone who has written songs for, and performed with, quite a few of the big names in black gospel over the years.

I've had the pleasure of spending the first fifteen years of my life with Dr. Porter. And when you listen to his music for all that time , you later believe there is not any other person on the planet who can deliver music, and touch your heart like this man.It is literally, MUSIC THAT DOES MORE THAN SOUND.

First heard in 1973, Tucson, AZ. Changed me forever! Have watched the unique, scripture-based, needs-fulfulling, soul-stirring songs change, help and motivate around the world. Music that does more than sound: enhances spiritual walk, deepens commitment, empowers to advance, strengthens relationships, inspires to succeed, heals sick, comforts lonely, sad and depressed. Can’t list all the positive results seen and heard concerning Dr. Porter and his music. However, I whole heartily agree with the 90-year old, retired college professor, "These songs caress your insides."

DR. PORTER HAS A UNIQUE APPROACH TO INSPIRING US TO LOVE. I REALLY ENJOY HIS MUSIC AND STRONGLY RECOMMEND OTHERS TO EXPOSE THEMSELVES TO HIS MUSICAL MESSAGES OF LOVE!

I've not heard the "Keep Making Tracks" album yet. I first discovered Dr. Henry Porter when he began airing a 30 minute program during late 2004 over the Word Network. I must say, I've never heard any music like Dr. Porter's. When so much of Gospel music is either so depressing or so crossover that the Gospel message is lost, Dr. Porter's music is vibrant and upbeat. There is a soulfulness about it that truly speaks to the heart. When I am able to get my hands on a copy of "Keep Making Tracks", I'll give an honest appraisal. Keep up the good work at Cross Rhythms!

Dear Sue,
I have listened to Bishop Porter's productions over the years and I can honestly say he is one of the best around. Gospel music is not about entertaining an audience but ministering to the needs of the souls. When songs are inspired by God for specific purposes, who are we to judge it's value? One thing I do know for sure: Critics never write a book and in this instance produce CDs themselves.
I am sure the Bishop has a big heart to forgive you for such harsh comments.
