Yet another album from the Nashville music machine that highlights how apparently without effort American studios can produce good quality Christian AOR. Brian White has penned several CCM hits for other artists and now leads his own band through an engaging set. Dennis Dearing's tight, no-frills production features his own inventive lead guitar playing and highly competent performances from the rest of the band. Brian White co-writes 10 of the 11 tracks and handles the lyrics with care and expression. Particularly notable is "You've Got To Hold On" with its Psalm of Lament type cry from the heart which allows room in belief for doubt: "As the door/Closes in the face of another dream/You seem to lose no matter what you do/And it's getting hard to see/Why you should still believe." The affirmative chorus encourages the believer to hold on to their faith - a theme that characterises other songs on the album. Also worthy of mention is the hard and rocky "Radical Love" and the acoustic flavoured "Out Of The Wilderness" which is a testimony to building human relationships upon God's love. Not an exceptional album, but a very enjoyable one which demonstrates the strength and depth that now exists in CCM.
