CPWP stands for Can't Play Won't Play which is a dangerous name to adopt if after seven years together you decide to record a low budget three-track CD. The band are also a mixture of three old blokes and two young ones and it seems like the old blokes are winning when it comes to the dated sound of the songs captured here, kind of '70s pop rock with a bit of blues thrown in. The low budget (two days in the studio to get it recorded and mixed) does show and the sound is definitely bleak in places. There's some nice guitar work from Joe Nallon but Paul Alexander's wobbly vocals don't do the band any favours. Live I'm sure they're a blast but you wouldn't know it from this.
