Subtitled 'Sacred Steel Guitars Vol 2', there is nothing else on the planet which sounds like this music. Based in a holiness church in New York State, these guys have developed a unique style of worship music and the contents of the CD are just the tasty music which is served up every Sunday in their local church. Blending the steel guitars more normally associated with country music with plenty of gospel and blues, they create this phenomenal sound where the guitars really do sing. Whether it's the smouldering gospel blues of the opening cut "Pass Me Not Oh Gentle Saviour" or the walking blues shuffle of "I Feel Good" or the railroad sound of "Jump For Joy" and "Morning Train", there's plenty of class here. The classic gospel call and response of "What's His Name?...Jesus" gives more of an indication of how this could sound in a church context. Throughout, the gospel stylings of Katie Jackson only add a huge infusion of passion, especially on the slower numbers like "Mary Don't You Weep" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Released on the independent American Arhoolie label who specialise in American roots music, this is definitely worth tracking down!
