California-based Carlotta grew up in a family steeped in gospel music and has been singing for most of her life. She has previously shared the stage with various gospel stalwarts such as the Clark Sisters and has now decided to launch out on her own with this single, a impassioned song of praise in which Carlotta declares how the Lord will "hold me in the palm of your hand." Right away she reminded me of Vanessa Bell Armstrong with her strength of voice and vocal range, not just range of pitch but also timbre - rich tenderness one moment, passionately letting it rip the next, but remaining perfectly controlled. Without question she has a beautiful voice! The CD contains both a radio edit and an extended version, although oddly the extended version is presented first, which is a shame, as the long cheesy keyboard orchestra patch section sounds particularly naff at the beginning. This has rightly been omitted from the radio version, which instead begins with the more moody electric piano part, a much better option.
