Produced by veteran gospel matriarch Dorothy Norwood though this was recorded live at the New Christian Valley Full Gospel Baptist Church, the congregation were so quiet on the slow hymnal opener I wondered for a bit whether there was anyone there save the choir. (Yep, the clumsily named Visions - A Choral Ministry are a choir, and a pretty good one.) But when they rip into "I'm Encouraged To Go Thru" the thing comes alive and Cedric rasps and hollers in the timeless tradition of James Cleveland. But then it's back to slow, bluesy stuff like "You Can Weather The Storm". Nothing really distinctive on this set to raise it from the pack but traditional gospel buffs can at least be assured that not every US choir is doing a Kirk Franklin.
