The songs here are some of the greatest expressions of poetic theology you'll find in the hymnbook ("Rock Of Ages", "Peace Like A River", "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go") and Chris is, of course, a CCM veteran who's clocked up radio hits with his own songs. Here the middle of the road arrangements and laid back production leave the vocal and piano talents of Mr Rice to simply bring full focus on the stirring melodies and uplifting lyrics. We're not talking the crashing guitars of Hillsong United here - in fact, there is hardly any percussion - and with the vocal harmonies and acoustic strumming the style is Simon & Garfunkel at their most acoustic. This is an album of hymns you wouldn't be embarrassed to have playing in the background - in fact, it's very pleasant. But if 'pleasant' is NOT a word you ever want to use to describe your music, perhaps this isn't the album for you.

Product Description
With his success on American Christian radio, and the success of both 'Amusing' and 'What a Heart is Beating For', Chris Rice made sure not to leave his roots behind and produced the album, 'Peace Like a River: The Hymns Project'.
“As a kid sitting on a pew week after week, I had no idea how important these great hymns would be to my faith. I miss the days when our songs were written to teach and preserve theology rather than to become a radio hit. From great theologians come the songs sung to strengthen and remind each other of the peace and freedom to come, I hope these hymns will remind you of the great truths they contain.” – Chris Rice
'Peace Like a River: The Hymns Project' features 'It Is Well With My Soul', 'A Mighty Fortress', 'How Great Thou Art' and more.

This is an album that will transport you into the presence of God. Are you going through a spell in a dry and weary land? Does it feel like God is in another universe? Play this CD and close your eyes. You see? It is well, it is well with your soul.
