In contrast with many of the long established Welsh choirs reviewed in these pages this mixed voice, 100 strong choir was formed in 1992. Under the skilled direction of conductor Gwawr Owen, the choir has made a remarkable impact in such a short time. The vocal maturity and authority on display is amazing on this their first CD. The programme is a collection of mainly the more serious side of things, the quite demanding items including "Psalm 86", "Brahm's Requiem", "Handel's The King Shall Rejoice", "Finlandia" and in a lighter vein a lively arrangement of the tricky "Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho" and a refreshing contract with a lovely "Moon River". A very pleasing first outing this, from a choir that achieved a high standard.
