A mixed voice choir based at Carmarthen Trinity College, in a gently flowing programme of well-chosen songs high on melodic content. Highlights are Mozart's "Gloria", Schubert's "Kyrie Eleison" and Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater", all weighty items made to sound easy by a cultured ensemble. The old spiritual "My Lord What A Morning" receives a particularly sparkling treatment, a little odd at first to hear it sung in Welsh, but no complaints. The choir boasts two fine soloists, Ina Williams and Catrin Brooks, also an excellent piano support from John Likeman. A small rhythm section is used on some contemporary pieces. This album demonstrates once again the current strength of home grown choral talent that deserves greater recognition.
