Major Leslie Condon was one of the most talented of the many Salvationist composers of the 20th century. He was bandmaster at several citadels, most notably Croydon, and long time member and later deputy bandmaster of the International Staff Band, and it's appropriate that this musical memorial to the man and his music is played by his beloved Croydon Citadel Band, directed by bandmaster Iain Parkhouse. A mix of tone poems, marches and variations and arrangements of old hymn tunes and gospel songs, and checking in at an impressive 76 minutes and 43 seconds, this is a feast of all the pomp and circumstance of a well drilled, talented band playing excellent music. If this is your kind of music, this will not disappoint.
