A surprise re-issue of this 1957 Capitol LP. Stetson are a label who specialise in re-issuing older country material. The surprise here is that really this is a not a country album at all, as the backing is full orchestra and chorus. It's unlikely to appeal much to the average country fan who might listen to gospel if it was done more country style. However for anyone interested in the music of this all time western great it's a bargain. The vocals of Roy and Dale are impeccable, the songs are very good, but to be honest it does sound a bit dated. When this album was released there was a steady demand for this sort of easy listening/middle of the road gospel music. Many country artists like Jimmie Davil and Tenessee Ernie Ford regularly released gospel albums but not really in a true country style, indicative perhaps of the strength of the gospel market in the States at the time. I suggest you listen to this first before you buy, unless you are a Roy Rogers devotee.
