His 'Brotherly Love' was one of my favourite albums of 1989 and I've been impatiently waiting for a follow-up ever since. It was worth the wait. Here Daniel's deft touch never falters. America's Christian Music industry has a tendency to thrust a recording contract into the hands of everyone with the surname Winans of course. In Daniel's case we've all benefited, Daniel picking up a Grammy award in 1990! Here is a man with a consummate songwriting talent and an unerring way with production. Voice wise Daniel is something of a chameleon, adopting the funkster's growl on the storming opener, "Hot Rain" finding a gritty almost rock-edged approach on a couple of the mid tempo songs and even succeeding in getting close to Sam Cooke's famed 'yodel' on the acapella "Sweet Jesus". An album which gets better with every play.
