Another splendid addition to this excellent series. Here we have David Hill's first solo organ album for many years and also his final recording before leaving Winchester for St John's College, Cambridge. He starts with Elgar's "Second Organ Sonata" which is really an arrangement of his "Severn Suite" by Ivor Atkins. This good introduction is followed by Karg-Elert's "Trois Impressions" which made no impression on this reviewer. Then things brighten up with two pieces by Wagner: "Overture To The Mastersingers" and "Prelude To Parsifal". The album closes with Edward Bairstow's "Sonata In E Flat". As with the earlier recordings in this series (already reviewed in CR) the sound quality is first class and the booklet notes both informative and interesting.
