As a musician myself, I know very well that jazz music, like the blues, is, generally speaking, much more fun to play than to listen to. Listening to this collection of tracks recorded at gigs or rehearsals (without overdubs, as the sleeve is proud to remind us), I am very much aware of the truth of that. ED himself is a guitarist who has trod the boards with a variety of CCM and not-so-CCM musos. I've no idea who is playing on this album, and I'm sure they all had huge fun making it, but I'm afraid I am left asking myself just what the aim behind it was, as the overall impression left is of huge self-indulgence and knowing-wink smugness (titles such as "Get Ja Funk" and "Zonken B Flatten" probably illustrate the point best). Whilst the playing is undeniably very good, the production is flat and the noodling really grates after a very short time.
