Goatscorge is one Taylor Burkhalter from Russellville, Alabama, and this black metal with grindcore elements was released, with zero publicity, a while back. The opening is certainly atmospheric and full of eerie symphonic notes and it is not long before the title track commences with its wall of guitars, precise drumming and guttural groans of a vocal. At times the cymbals sound a little artificial and thin, but the majority of the track drives and pulsates in a satisfactory way. All these elements are then carried into subsequent cuts, which leads to monotony with little respite to the grinding onslaught until the album reaches "Wrathful Vengeance," which has a more open and less depressing feel about it. "Laying The Foundation Of Eternity" does provide some variation with its spoken intro, but even this does little to add another facet to the recording. By the end of the 12 tracks, I am left feeling that the record has gone on for far too long.
