From the West Coast of America come a band who have fashioned a sound that draws on the influence of some of the most popular US bands. The Gin Blossoms, Dave Matthews Band, Third Day and Jars Of Clay are all cited as influences but this debut CD manages to create something that sounds fresh and refreshing. This four piece may have rootsy hearts as demonstrated on the way they create rootsy rock classics like "Thank You" and the breathy "Better Days" but they also know how to get funky on "Equilibrium" and let their hair down on the groovy "Breathe". Liked this band so much I have already featured them on my Independents' Day programme. If you're into roots rock with a splash of invention and a dash of thoughtful lyrics, Gone Hazel are an independent band worth investigating.
