Six-piece band Grafted represents five different nationalities in its line up and you could say that they're on a permanent world tour. Based on the Christian ministry cruise ship Anastasis, they visit many different nations using music to minister. From the markets of West Africa to the malls and church buildings of Europe, Grafted's straight ahead rootsy pop rock communicates. This CD gives you a chance to check them out. There's the rootsy rock'n'roll of "All Of Me" which gets things going very nicely, complete with a bit of a call and response lalala and the repeated prayer of "All I am cries out to you." "Intoxicated" is built on a sterling bass riff that propels the track forward. Lyrically, this is again intimate, plaintive, liberating, uncompromising music of adoration. The psalmlike "Who Am I?" is again driven by a bass riff and listening through for the first time it was at this point that I began to detect a tiny little of the influence of Cutting Edge on this style of worship. Believe me, that is no bad thing because the intimacy that Grafted create is compelling throughout. With the first three tracks weighing in at over six minutes each, the band are in no hurry and that gives the CD an airy feel. The fun feel of the final cut "Child Like" takes the tempo right up and is a fitting close to the proceedings.
