No artists are credited on the front cover of this album of ‘16 songs of peace and tranquility’, but the pianist Andrew Green has arranged an absolutely superb collection of melodies that are largely drawn from Kingsway Music’s more recent back catalogue of worship songs - including the self-penned “Be Still And Know”. Aided and abetted by veteran co-producer Christopher Norton, Green has assembled a quintet of the finest Christian musicians in Britain - including cellist Robin Thompson-Clarke and the evergreen flautist Simeon Wood. The end result has taken up permanent residence in my player ever since it first arrived. This just has to be one of the finest instrumental albums of worship music ever to be recorded in Britain. The standard throughout is so consistently high that I would be hard pressed to name a couple of standout tracks. But, the way in which Green and Norton breathe new life into over familiar songs like Noel Richard’s “All Heaven Declares” and come up with equally innovative interpretations of current favourites that include Oakley’s “It’s All About You” and Tim Hughes’ “My Jesus, My Lifeline” underline why I regard this album no longer as another review copy but as the best CD I have received in ages.
