Jimmy Martin was arguably one of the best bluegrass vocalists ever. This magnificent 5 CD box set covers his RCA Victor sides and all his recording for the US Mecca label from 1954 to the early '80s. This was at a time when bluegrass was losing national popularity in country music, and Jimmy's star shone brightly for a good while, despite his unashamed acoustic approach. Jimmy's records were aimed at the country market which he cracked several times with big hits "Tennessee" and "Widow Maker'" etc. Jimmy recorded all sons of tunes, country love songs. Novelty instrumentals and some great gospel tracks which saw the release of two fine gospel albums. "This World Is Not My Home' and Singing All Day And Dinner On The Ground". Many of these cuts still sound great today! Jimmy introduced such gems as "This World Is Not My Home" and the classic "Stormy Waters". I enjoyed many of these tracks the first time round, to get them again all in one super five CD box set is great. Very warmly recommended,
