How much 16th century music do you want? If you cannot get enough then this is recommended but if you think that if you have heard one setting of the Mass you have heard them all you almost certainly will not enjoy this. For some of you seeing that the recording has been made by Edward Wickham and The Clerks’ Group will be enough to have you reaching for your credit card but for others there is little that I can say that might inspire you to try this. If your heart does not thrill at the thought of hearing an 11 minute version of the genealogy of Jesus set to music and sung in Latin then there is little more I can say. I enjoyed this but I did not have to buy my copy. As an historical document it is fascinating but I am more likely to go to, say, Byrd or Tallis to illustrate my history classes.
