This is a nifty piece of sun-drenched Californian surf pop and rock; a pleasant surprise on a cold January day. 'Seabright' is Justin Fox's fourth release, a brisk 35 minute, 11 track trip to the beach for fans of Jack Johnson and early Switchfoot. Fox's lyrics are by turn descriptive, simplistic, heartfelt and confident. From the addictive opening track "My California" to the worshipful closer "How Amazing" it is clear that he loves life and writes from the heart. This occasionally leads to moments of cliché and sometimes it seems that the need to make a line rhyme overtakes the need for it to make sense. However, "Small Is Beautiful" is a sweet, fun song to his daughter and 'Fade in to You' contains some of the albums stronger lyrics, contrasting God's qualities against the writer's failures, expressing his desire to fade into God, relying on Him for completeness. "No One Like You" is probably one of the weaker tracks, but is no doubt a fun track live. 'Seabright' isn't going to change the world but it works as the soundtrack to one of those days where you need reminding the world can be a better place.
