Wiltshire-based singer Kathryn Crosweller's debut contains a generous offering of 15 songs that show her devotion to the Lord. Crosweller has chosen to cover songs by a range of writers including John Rutter ("Make Me An Instrument"), Jimmy and Carol Owens ("Oh Make Me Like You") and even Mother Teresa ("Go Tell Everyone") whilst deftly crossing denominations with the inclusion of the Roman Catholic "Immaculate Mary" alongside the more mainstream Dave Billbrough song "Let There Be Love Shared Among Us". Although the overall style reflects the stillness mentioned in the album's title, Crosweller's straight-laced vocal delivery and the somewhat dated, albeit competent, backdrop of nylon-stringed guitar, flute and the like make proceedings seem emotionless and stiff. More variety in terms of style and tempo is needed to bring Crosweller's obvious skills to a wider audience.
