Pure class from these veterans of the acoustic/bluegrass/country/country rock scene. Experience and pedigree are to the fore here, these men have histories which have rightly given them legendary status amongst their peers. Their talents merge on some wonderful material, old and new. Gospel-style songs include Norman Blake's "Lord Won't You Help Me", Mac McAnally's "Only Passing Through" (a gem) and Hillman's own "Story Of Love". Borrowed highlights include Stephen Stills' "So Begins The Task" and a superb treatment of Richard Thompson's magnificent "Dimming Of The Day". As well as smooth, interchangeable lead vocals and exemplary harmony singing the instrumental work of these masters is breathtaking. Support from other giants such as Jerry Douglas and the Simpkins Brothers make this a picker's paradise. If you enjoy the style of bluegrass but struggle with the hard nasal vocal style the smoother sound of this foursome should go down a treat. Excellent CD from some wonderful musicians.
