Quality, that's the word. Smooth, classy artist who treats the material with careful attention to detail but still oozing flair and creativity. The artist fronts the usual prowling, fiery choir that gobbles up every opportunity it's given to shine. And what about this band! The opening track "Glory To You" gives all the assembled cast the chance to shake out all the cobwebs, led in the charge by Matthews' leaping vocal style. Like his way of linking aggression and smoothness in his technique. Some songs are laid well back, often duetting with some soulful sax sounds from Kevin Moore. A very nicely balanced, tasteful programme, recorded in a lively concert atmosphere. Even the old warhorse "Savior Do No Pass Me By" earns its keep in fine style. A hot new artist.
