An EP by an exiled Russian now living in America. Leonard is a self-appointed guardian of his country's culture who for the last 13 years, through his own organisation, has been attempting to preserve the Russian language and culture among the ex-pat community and also "provide children with an alternative to the violence being delivered by the mass media" (he himself is a journalist as well as composer and writer). Worthy aims indeed. Leonard's rich, near operatic tones on these traditional Russian worship songs are well produced and strangely compelling listening. Worth acquiring to if you want to support Leonard Manevich, and listen to something a bit different from your usual musical diet.
