Here's a band that are totally ministry focused making music that is concentrated on inspiring, challenging and encouraging. No nonsense with coded lyrics here, it's all in your face but then so is the ministry of Lucent. Mixing heavyweight feats of strength with spiritual and musical muscle to make an impact, the band are kept pretty busy across America ministering to youth very effectively. The album has been a while in coming but this isn't unusual for an independent band. So what do we have? Actually it reminds me a lot of Carman with a variety of styles employed to communicate the message including the occasional ballad! There's plenty of grooves and machine gun-style rapid fire rapping with a delivery that sometimes loses something with the speed. Budget restrictions show up most on the slower numbers but are generally overcome so that the end result is clean, full of passion and spiritual vitality. From the techno groove of "Spiritual Combat" and the power of "Resurrect Me" and "Anointing", this mixes issues of spiritual warfare with an uncompromising challenging message for believer and unbeliever alike. Lucent have a proven ministry and this album is obviously born out of their live work and acts as a good intro to the band. Some might get a little bored with all this "beat up the Devil" stuff but judging by the number of invites they're receiving, they must be doing something right. Can't wait to see what happens next!
