Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (Central Germany Broadcasting) have assembled this recording of Howard Arman conducting the MDR Symphony Orchestra, Choir and Children's Choir performing Solomon's Song Of Songs by the sublime Ralph Vaughan Williams. His suite for solo viola, small chorus and orchestra is beautifully executed with Herbert Kleiner's sonorous viola bringing out the full haunting magnificence of the work. If that wasn't sufficient there are some contemporary pieces by Laurence Traiger, Wilhelm Weismann and Howard Arman himself. But it's the Vaughan Williams work which takes you back to the repeat button.
